Welcome, from the Special Representative and Head of Delegation

Dear visitor,

Ambassador Erwan FOUÉRÉ, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Welcome to the webpage of the Delegation of the European Union to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

I hope that this page will help you to better understand our mission, role and activities in the country. Also, this page should provide you easy access to all key documents regarding the relations between the EU and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and its progress on the road towards EU integration, as well as provide useful information on the EU's financial instruments in support of the country's effort.

As European Union Special Representative my task focuses mainly on furthering the political development of the country in the context of the full implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement

Since the country was recognised as a candidate country in December 2005, the task of the Delegation of the European Union has focused for a large part on the monitoring of the progress of the country in meeting the criteria for EU membership, as well as on the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (signed on 9 April 2001 in Luxemburg).

Overall, the Delegation seeks to facilitate the country's objective of future integration into the European Union and to support its efforts and preparations to achieve this goal.

On this webpage, you will also find a lot of other useful information. I sincerely hope that this website will also satisfy your interest in our daily activities and for that purpose I would encourage you to visit our other information sources, such as the newsletter, the news updates, the press releases, and certainly the section "News from the Delegation", which should give you a clear view on our current engagements.

Thank you,
Erwan Fouéré
