Launch of the Italy-Turkey pan-European Corridor through
Albania, Bulgaria, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and
Greece
The European Commission has designated Mr. Donato Chiarini as the new Head of Delegation to the country and on 9 August the Government agreed to accept his accreditation. Mr. Chiarini is expected to take up his new post in September.
The 2002 Lorenzo
Natali Prize for Journalism
The application procedure for the 2002 Lorenzo Natali Prize for
Journalism: Excellence in Reporting Human Rights, Democracy and
Development is now open. This year five prizes each worth EUR
10,000 will be awarded to one print/on-line journalist working
for the local media in each of the following regions:
The European Union and the Accession Countries;
Asia and the Pacific;
Africa;
Latin America and the Caribbean;
North Africa and the Middle East.
Articles submitted
should focus on human rights and democracy as vital aspects of
development and have been published in the general media between
1st January 2001 and 31st December 2001. Articles can be
submitted until 23rd September 2002. An independent jury made up
of media, development and human rights specialists will examine
the articles submitted and select the winners. Information on
the rules, the application form and background information about
